Yep, that is my steed. Love that bike.
Have you ever had one of those days or weekends that you just cannot get enough riding a 2 wheeler? You know, a "I wish it was April and I was in Belgium or I wish it was August and I was in Whistler or I wish it was October and I was in Moab or I wish it was October and I was at the Ironman race in Indiana or I wish it was June and I was in Italy...I PRETTY MUCH JUST WANT TO BE ON A 2 WHEELER. I have them all the time. I had one this past weekend.
I rode my mountain bike on Saturday with Liz at Camrock. We had a ball. I have not ridden those trails in a while, and they are great. They get alot of usage, but they hold up well and there are some really great sections. There unfortunately is also a section that is not getting used much and really is overgrown and needs to be rebuilt.
I was thinking of riding in the Spiderman outfit, I probably should have.
We parked in Cambridge and rode the trail out from town. It is just a 2 mile bike trail along the river to get to the trails, pretty cool if you lived in town. We had decided that we were going to ride every trail there today. So we jumped on at the closest end and started doing swirling loops to the south along the river. The local mountain bike club has done a great job with a small piece of property.
We finished up about 2 hours later, after seeing a few people on the trails that we knew, and made our way back to Camrock Cafe + Sport in Cambridge. A nice little spot to get a sandwich or an espresso, they can also save your ride with quick bike repairs. Best of all, they carry a huge assortment of great brew. I picked up some Westmalle Trappist Ale while I was there.
Then Sunday I did a few hours on the offroad motorcycle. I busted up to Dyracuse early and got in a few hours, just trying to stay sharp for a half dozen races that I still have planned for the rest of the year. The parking lot was pretty crowded, but the property is so large that I hardly saw anyone there on the trails.
On Monday (Yep, it is a threefer weekend) we did a huge ride at the Kettle Moraine forest. When I say Huge it was really huge. 5 hours of riding. Lots of different loops and lots of different feelings for me. It was really hot, and I was pretty bonked when I was done. Hot and dusty.
We rode a blue loop at a reasonable clip with Ali and Thomas, then Liz and I decided we were going to take the connector over to Emma Carlin and see what that was like now. We got there and did the big Green loop there, then had to make our way back on the connector. We were down to one Camelbak with a little bit of water when we got back to the parking lot. It was 92 and we were pretty toasted.
But, all in all it was a great 3 day weekend of 2wheeled fun.
That is definately what you look like after 5 hours of hot and dry dusty.
The parking lot at the Kettle Moraine forest was packed.

Ok Ok i admit i was just kidding with the last tweet! Was gettimg carried away....
Those have nothing to do with any of my 2wheel exploits, but they are really fun. In reality, all bike racers should be as cool as Jens Voigt, and all weekends should have 3 days. While we are at it, why not have all places with 9 months of riding season?
I'll save that topic for a future entry.
Out,
Joe
