It was a raucus night in mid-manhattan on Thursday as the Trek Lime was bestowed with the 2009 Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum's People's Choice Award. As part of an online contest, the Lime was one of nearly 200 products nominated in an online contest that was open for voting over several weeks. With it's simplistic design, 3-speed autoshift, and a goal to make bike riding as fun now as when you were a child, the Lime was the perfect choice for such an award. A bike for the people, nominated by the people, voted on by the people, chosen by the people. Makes you want to believe in the American Idea all over again.
