One of the many perks to being yours truly is that once a year I get to go to a location of my catalog team's choosing and spend a week soaking up the sights, sounds, and soul of the location. A photoshoot always sounded glamorous growing up but until you actually do it, you have no idea how much work it is. We meet a ton of people, work insane hours, skip sleep, and have more fun than work should ever really allow. While, yes, we use models from modeling agencies we're a little different in our selection process. A nice face is great but we need more than that. We need real people and that's what we usually get. The stories that our models have are always so unique and are anything but what you would think "typical" of what you might assume of models. They're accountants, Moms, restaurant owners, and recent high school graduates on their way to College. Keep that in mind when you look through our photos.
The one bummer of the job is having to look at a stack of awesome photography that doesn't make it into the catalog. If it were up to me, we'd just have a huge book of pretty pictures but there are some parameters that I do have to conform to. Well bummer no longer. This Flickr set is what I'm calling, The Best of the Rest. It's some of my favorite shots from the past summer that we just didn't have room for.
